Accessibility

And The Web

And The Web

A tidbit of insight into developing websites for everyone

I firmly believe that everyone should be able to browse the internet.

As of January 1, 2021, the AODA requires you to make all public websites accessible if you are either: a designated public sector organization or .a business or non-profit organization with 50 or more employees.
This means that most websites built within Canada need meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act standards. There are two different levels of accessibility that your website can have, either an A or AA rating.

Being compliant is an important thing. Not just because it is required, but because it is the right thing to do. Bringing the web to everyone means you are leaving no one out when people come to browse your website. Just imagine viewing websites, and only being able to read and click links. That would be a pretty poor way to view a website right? Well, by adding AODA compliance, you can make it so everyone can understand every aspect of your website. From images to headings and everything in-between, a deaf or blind user will be able to understand what you are trying to convey.

I feel confident in making your website accessible. I follow compliant standards, and make sure to get your site to an A or AA rating. Even websites with custom functionality that need that little bit of extra love to get it to where it needs to be in terms of  being accessible.

Contact me today should you need someone to help transform your existing website to be AODA compliant, or should you need a new website that is AODA compliant.
